10-Minute Meditation Scripts You Can Read Aloud

Sometimes the best meditation guide is a real human voice โ€” yours, or someone you trust. These scripts are designed to be read aloud slowly and naturally. Use them to guide a partner, child, classroom, support group, or yourself (record on your phone and play back).

How to Read These Scripts

Read slowly โ€” much slower than conversational speech. Pause at every '...' for 3-5 seconds. Pause at every '[pause]' for 8-10 seconds. Speak softly but clearly. Don't whisper โ€” just lower your volume by about 30%. Breathe audibly between sentences so the listener can synchronise their breathing with yours.

Script 1: Simple Breath Awareness (10 minutes)

'Find a comfortable position... Close your eyes if that feels right, or lower your gaze to a spot on the floor...

Take a deep breath in... and let it go with a sigh... [pause]

Now let your breathing return to its natural rhythm... Don't try to change anything... Just notice the breath as it is...

Feel the air entering through your nose... cool and fresh... Notice the slight pause at the top of the inhale... Then feel the warm air flowing out... [pause]

Your mind will wander... That's not a problem... That's completely normal... When you notice your thoughts have drifted, gently โ€” without any frustration โ€” bring your attention back to the next breath... [pause]

Notice where you feel the breath most clearly... Perhaps at the nostrils... perhaps the rise and fall of your chest... or the gentle expansion of your belly... Wherever it's clearest, let your attention rest there... [pause]

Each time you bring your attention back, you're strengthening your ability to focus... Every return is a small victory... not a failure... [pause]

Continue breathing naturally... noticing each inhale... each exhale... resting in the simple rhythm of your breath... [long pause โ€” 30 seconds]

Now gently begin to widen your awareness... Notice the sounds around you... Feel the surface beneath you... the temperature of the air on your skin...

When you're ready... slowly open your eyes... Take a moment before moving... You've just given your mind something valuable.'

Script 2: Body Scan for Relaxation (10 minutes)

'Lie down or sit comfortably... Let your eyes close... Take three slow, deep breaths... In... and out... In... and out... In... and out... [pause]

Bring your attention to the soles of your feet... Just notice whatever you find there... warmth, tingling, pressure, nothing at all... There's no right answer... [pause]

Now move your awareness up to your ankles... your lower legs... Feel the weight of them... Let them be heavy... relaxed... [pause]

Move up to your knees... your thighs... your hips... With each area, simply notice and release... Notice and let go... [pause]

Bring your attention to your lower back... your belly... Feel your belly rising and falling with each breath... Let the muscles soften... [pause]

Now your upper back... your chest... Notice how much tension you carry here without realising... Let your shoulders drop away from your ears... [pause]

Feel your arms... heavy and loose... your hands... your fingers... Let everything be still... [pause]

Move to your neck... your jaw... Let your jaw fall slightly open... your tongue resting on the floor of your mouth... [pause]

Your cheeks... your eyes... Feel them resting heavy in their sockets... Your forehead โ€” smooth out every line... Let your whole face be soft... [pause]

Now feel your whole body as one... lying here... breathing... completely supported by the surface beneath you... There's nothing to do... nothing to fix... nothing to think about... Just rest... [long pause โ€” 30 seconds]

Gently begin to bring movement back... Wiggle your fingers and toes... Take a deeper breath... When you're ready, open your eyes slowly.'

Script 3: Loving-Kindness (10 minutes)

'Sit comfortably... Close your eyes... Place a hand on your heart if that feels natural... [pause]

Bring to mind your own face... See yourself as you are today... and silently say: May I be happy... May I be healthy... May I be safe... May I live with ease... [pause โ€” repeat phrases slowly twice more]

Now bring to mind someone you love... See their face clearly... and offer them the same kindness: May you be happy... May you be healthy... May you be safe... May you live with ease... [pause โ€” repeat twice more]

Now think of someone neutral โ€” someone you see regularly but don't know well... The barista, a neighbour, a colleague... May you be happy... May you be healthy... May you be safe... May you live with ease... [pause โ€” repeat twice more]

Finally, expand your awareness outward... to everyone in your building... your street... your city... the world... May all beings be happy... May all beings be healthy... May all beings be safe... May all beings live with ease... [long pause]

Let the phrases fade... Sit in whatever feeling remains... [pause]... When you're ready, open your eyes.'
